根據勞工處統計，本港2021年首季發生約1700宗工業意外，較去年同期增加約26%；當中飲食業及建造業發生工業意外最多，分別約有780宗及590宗。
工業意外後果可大可少，如在地盤及廚房滑倒及絆倒可導致骨折，從高處墮下可導致肢體癱瘓。曾有裝修工人爬上店舖內離地兩米多的假天花視察，突然假天花下塌，工人墮地傷了頸椎及脊髓神經，不幸導致四肢癱瘓。所以僱主及工人緊記要保持工作環境安全，做足安全措施。
